The growing Westcore Properties’ portfolio today totals more than 11.6 million square feet of assets valued in excess of $1 billion.

Corporate History

Westcore Properties’ roots date back to 1993, when company chairman Marc Brutten was president of a major institutional investment firm where he oversaw the acquisition and value enhancement of an 11.3-million-square-foot commercial real estate portfolio. His creativity and entrepreneurial vision led him to form Westcore Industrial Properties in 2000. Over the next three years, the company acquired 3.3 million square feet with a combined project value of $396 million.

In 2003, Brutten sold the portfolio – which had an aggregate levered IRR of 32 percent – in two separate transactions. The capital generated from those sales fueled the company’s transition to Westcore Properties, where the product focus expanded to also include office assets. Since then, the company has amassed a portfolio of well-performing buildings totaling more than 11.6 million square feet in carefully identified markets in the U.S. and Europe.

Looking ahead, Westcore Properties continues to seek new opportunities to enhance real estate value through pro-active and innovative acquisition and management strategies.
